ROOTX is a powdered product that has the unique ability to both stop root growth and, through decomposition, remove the roots from the sewer or tile line.
ROOTX foams on contact with water to coat the inside of the pipe, and get to all those difficult to reach spots.

ROOTX will, over time, remove virtually all the roots,restoring the pipeflow capacity.

While the product can be applied through a toilet for residential use, it is not recommended to apply more than one 2-pound container in this manner. It is more effective to apply the product directly into the pipe.
ROOTX does not contain Copper Sulfate or Metham Sodium. These are common alternatives and are both harmful to the environment and to the bacteria that assists in the decomposition of dead roots.
The active ingredient in ROOTX is the aquatic herbicide Dichlobenil. It also contains surfactants, which are cleansing agents to remove accumulated grease and grime from tree roots so the Dichlobenil can do its job.
The ROOTX formula is registered in all 50 states. The EPA registration # is 68464.
Please note that ROOTX is not a quick fix. The product takes time to work. If you have a complete blockage, mechanical cleaning may be required to open the line. Once open, ROOTX is an effective preventative maintenance product to prevent tree roots from returning. Treating annually will help you avoid problems.
Treatment quantities:
- 2 pounds will treat 50 feet of 4 inch pipe
- 4 pounds will treat 100 feet of 4 inch pipe
- 4 pounds will treat 75 feet of 6 inch pipe
- 40 pounds will treat 150-300 feet of 8 inch pipe
Septic Tank Application
- To assist with root removal from septic tanks and leach lines, apply 8 pounds per 1000 gallon of tank capacity applied through the cleanouts to leach lines or the distribution box.
